THINKING ABOUT MUAY THAI FOR YOUR KID?

The Parent's Guide to Starting Kids Muay Thai — the honest answers to safety, ages, what the first class is actually like, and how to judge any kids gym (including us). Straight to your inbox.

AUTHENTIC MUAY THAI

Real technique, real padwork, real conditioning — the art of eight limbs taught properly, not a cardio class with gloves on.

ALL AGES, ALL LEVELS

Kids from 5, teens, adults, complete beginners and experienced fighters. Every class is scaled to the person in front of us.

FAMILY, NOT JUST A GYM

Respect, strength, discipline, family — the four things every member signs up to. You'll be pushed hard and looked after harder.

The real thing

MEET YOU ON THE TRAINING FLOOR

This is what a normal week looks like in Ravenhall — kids drilling next to their parents, first-timers gloving up beside fighters, and the whole gym packing in front of the gorilla for the class photo. No stock photos here. Just the crew.

WHO'S STEPPING ON THE MATS?

GOOD QUESTIONS

I've never trained before — can I still join?

Absolutely. Most people walk in having never thrown a kick. Every class is run for all levels, and our trainers will take you through the basics at your pace. Stay humble, never quit — that's how everyone here started.

What age can kids start?

Kids classes run for ages 5 and up, Monday to Friday from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Sessions build fitness, focus, confidence and real self-defence skills in a safe, disciplined environment.

What should I bring to my first class?

Comfortable training gear, a water bottle and a towel. We can sort you out with gloves and pads for your first sessions — just turn up ready to have a go.

Do I have to spar?

No. Sparring is always optional and always supervised. Plenty of members train purely for fitness and technique. When you're ready — and only then — sparring is introduced gradually and safely.

Where is the gym?

We're at 1/34 Westwood Dr, Ravenhall VIC 3023, in Melbourne's western suburbs — an easy drive from Caroline Springs, Deer Park, Derrimut, Tarneit, Truganina and Melton, with parking on site.

What does Nak Muay mean?

Nak Muay (นักมวย) is Thai for a practitioner of Muay Thai. It's not a rank you're given — it's what you become by turning up, training honestly and respecting the art. That's why our Instagram says it: this is the home of authentic Nak Muay in Melbourne's west.

How do I get started?

Call us on 0486 019 478, message us on Instagram @greater_western_mta, or use the contact form and we'll get back to you about booking your first session.
